A Brief History Of Gemstones
As long as there have been people on earth we have been drawn to gemstones, using them to decorate sacred vestibules and chalices. Royalty and religious leaders have been obsessed with them since the ancient Sumerians ruled Summeria, the ancient Egyptians too used gemstones in their jewellery. The word crystal itself actually comes from an ancient Greek word, such was the weight that they placed on these mystical objects.
What does Onyx symbolize?
Onyx is one of the world's most well-renowned gemstones it's healing properties being touted since the dawn of time. Onyx it turns out is a variety of the Chalcedony, which comes in a variety of different colours from white to jet-black. The word Onyx stems from the ancient Greek word for claw. It's origins and legends vary from the ancient Greeks believing it to be part of the Gods, to the Peruvian and Native American stories believing the stones to be demons.

What is the meaning behind Amethyst?
Amethyst is also known as the "spirit stone" this purple gemstone is the very definition of spirituality and can be an ideal assistant when it comes to meditation. The name actually comes from an ancient Greek word that means "not drunk" and the ancient Greeks thought it would stop them getting tipsy, which obviously isn't true. Initially, Agate was used as a symbol of good luck amongst the ancients. Agate has been believed to have some of the strongest healing powers compared to any other gemstone, it was widely used to heal all kinds of health concerns, particularly those of a pulmonological nature. Wearers of Agate jewellery and charms used to write what disease or illness they had on the charm itself in order to help with the healing process, we're not suggesting you do that to any of ours, but wearing some Agate might not be a bad idea.
